AJIMOBI RESTATES PUBLIC-PRIVATE CO-OPERATION IN HEALTH CARE

GOVERNOR Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has said that his administration would continue to collaborate with private organisations for maximum healthcare delivery system in the state.

The governor stated this while receiving members of the management team of Access to Basic (health) Care (ABC) Foundation who paid him a courtesy call at the Governor’s Office, Ibadan.

Governor Ajimobi, who noted that government alone could not shoulder the responsibilities of healthcare system in the country, said with the support of private organisations like ABC Foundation, there would be great improvement in healthcare delivery.

He said that his administration had embarked on comprehensive rehabilitation of all state-owned hospitals and health centres across the state as part of measures to transform the health sector and make it more effective.
The governor advised the management of ABC Foundation to extend its network beyond the 10 local councils where it presently operates.

He also called on the Foundation to partner with the state Ministry of Health and the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan so as to improve on its operation.
Besides, Governor Ajimobi asked the Foundation, being a private concern operating free healthcare services, to also seek financial support from both local and international foundations and development partners.
Earlier, the Leader of the Team and Programme Director of ABC Foundation, Dr. Wallace Ogufere, said the Foundation receives about 3,000 patients on weekly basis while over 200,000 people had so far benefitted from its free health services.
